About the Culture of Curry
Although Curry is well known as the favourite food in the UK many people don't realise that what they call Indian food actually comes from a broad range of countries and is influenced by many different regions of Asia.
Typically in the UK you will be eating food from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. This is further influenced by regions that cross national boundries, so for example a dish may come from the Punjab or Kashmir, areas that include parts both of Pakistan and India.
In this section of our website we outline some of the history and background of different regional cuisines.
Pakistani Cuisine
Pakistani cuisine is similar to that of Northern India although meat plays a more important role in Pakistani food, while dishes from India are often vegetarian.
The most popular food across the country is barbecued meats known as Moghul food which include dishes such as Lamb Chops, Chicken Tikka and Kebabs. Bread is widely eaten with flat Roti bread being part of most people's daily meals.
